The Jets had lost Game 6 by a score of 4–1, and the franchise was relocating to Phoenix. As the final horn sounded, Keith Tkachuk, who had scored a goal and two assists in the series, took one last skate around the rink. He led his teammates in a final lap, stick raised to the fans who had cheered him through a 50-goal season and a contract dispute that had stripped him of the captaincy. The ovation was deafening. Tkachuk didn't wave. He just skated, his eyes fixed on the stands, taking in every face, every sign, every moment of a city saying goodbye to its team.
